Q: If only there were no surprise quizzes in class.

It is safe to say that I’ve finally caught up with both Lihee and Ika on separate Skype sessions. This goes to show that no matter how busy you get, if you have the heart for others, you will make the time to meet. Well, Skype kinda form a magical space for such hangouts, in the convenience of both users no matter where they are in the world. And I appreciate such technology for helping me maintain my relationships with others, especially now that everyone is everywhere like how I am, remotely distant from all the action. A friend strung some words nicely to define friends who don’t keep in touch for more than a year; “let’s just say you’re not as important to them.” And boy, she may be on to something.

Let’s get a reality check for a bit. Seriously, how much more excuse can you come up with now that things are SO convenient. Was it difficult to send a text once in a month? Last I calculated, a text may cost you less than 15 seconds (depending on the length and thought into it), which only amounts to a sad three minutes per year. Heck, that’s how long you spend in the toilet when you’re bolting for classes like the White Rabbit. Apparently, an instant noodle cooks within three minutes too. That shows how little it cost you to do a monthly check-up on people you “claim” to care for.

I may have been guilty myself, or rather the example may have simply been too stringent. Fine, if once a month is too much, how about once every two months? That ought to shake your world by now if it hadn’t. See guys, if your friends start leaving you and you don’t know why, ask yourself if you’ve ever made the effort to keep them around, before you blame it on others. They sure are no dogs, if you know what I mean. And while some of you may began to wonder if I am referring this post to a certain someone, well, you might be right. Hey, you care enough about me to read this blog, then I’d say this rant goes out to you too, fair and square.

Vonnie S.
