Q: Can't find cocaine on here...

So ladies and gentlemen, after many years of living a solitary life, I can finally sing this song out loud for all to hear. Though, unfortunately for you, I have zero Korean language skills to do it any justice. Be happy for me okay?

Too dang serious, I have to use Times New Roman to write this entry.

Wet dog,

E: Happy Easter Sunday!

User mario40475 (Heather) drew Kumakee for me, and boy I must say she did an excellent job. So I gave her a codestone and a book as a commission pay, Neopets style. Interesting right? It’s always cool to think about living in a virtual world or an alternate reality. Not so much of trying to escape from real life, but to experience being a part of that wonder. Talk about visiting another country of a different culture, a land so strange to you yet intriguing. I’d like that for a change of pace too. Again, not justifying that one should waste their life online. Just making sure you got the word.

I’d like to ride a Chocobo, go hunt some Balrogs with a couple of party members, chill at a tavern with a butterbeer in hand, pet a unicorn under a rainbow, put on armors and wield dual swords. The list goes on. Knowing these things will remain a fantasy dream, I’m settled for celebrating the Festival of Neggs with fellow Neopians.

Special thanks to infantdaydream (Hannah) for this negg. :)

Q: Tell your momma I said Hi!

I am such a sucker when it comes to doing charity. After receiving RM10 worth of credit, I didn’t hesitate to spend it away for the good of others. Mom would have benefited from a hearty lunch, but then again, she wouldn’t like most of the restaurants on Groupon anyway. Rather than bathing in criticisms, I’d rather feed the poor. Hey, that’s friggin two weeks’ worth of deed there. I’d be reining in Karma faster than a vacuum cleaner at this rate. Let me see anyone of you top this!

It’s over,

Q: When you feel like quitting, think about why you started.

Dear Journal article,

Sorry for giving you the cold shoulder. I left you in the dumps and you must have caught on that things haven’t been going the way I planned. As such, I have yet to make the decision to return to you despite seven days had passed. Holiday is the only one in my mind at that moment in time. It sounds very selfish of me to leave you hanging despite promising to take responsibility for my actions. Trust me though; I will be back in your warm embrace soon. In fact, it may be as late as tomorrow I fear. Love, you know me better than a lot of people in this world. For that reason, I beg you to remain legible, understandable, and forgiving. And I’ll be right around the corner, burning the midnight oil with you over covers and holding you tight with my hands. Stimulate my mind as you always do. I’ll highlight your wisdom, and cherishing those words forever.

P/s: Holiday has the PE issues anyway. :P

Love,
Vonnie S.

Q: I guess nobody ever told you.

For the most part, I had a good day. I walked alone at the harbor area, had McDonald’s, went to get some postcards and then to the post office for stamps. On the way back, I even stopped by a used bookstore to pick up two books (Edith Hamilton’s Mythology & Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol). Poor owner is closing the business and was selling most books off for three bucks. You can say I took advantage of the deal and I was glad to have done so. Waiting for the buses took forever today, but I eventually got home and made noodles for dinner. Sounds good so far? Dang right on.

So what about the lesser part of the day then? I haven’t yet done anything for class. Presumably, I’ll be doing last minute studying as usual. In the end, I realized that I have yet to pull myself together despite after going through two semesters. Depressing, yes. Then, I caught a glimpse of PL’s mind, an emotional roller coaster ride as I read her current blog post. I cried for her, hoping that it will take a lil sorrow away and make her tomorrow a lil lighter.

Q: It's about time one of them makes an offer.

Shall I have sushi or you for dinner? Tough choice.
Watching Yojimbo in honor of Akira Kurosawa via Hulu. It’s been half a century since its release, but this is pretty high-def for a black and white film. The main character reminds me very much of Gintoki (Gintama). Perhaps all samurais has this sort of manly air about them. Still worth my time I suppose, considering it was a hit back then.

Q: Gooose bump!!!

It just dawned on me that March is on the bridge end of its own song. The month was briskly humming choruses and packing winter’s debris as it leaves. I know very well that time flies, but April must be pressing on desperately, for what reason, I wasn’t sure yet. Right now, spring break is but a girl half-dressed after a blissful night. “It’s time for work,” she said, “until we meet again in summer.” Of course, had I been a boy, this fling went too short to notice. But she left me in a daze, and I am crooning patiently for her presence again in June. I’d tell her to bring me bright skies and sweet smelling flowers.

Just drew pictures for the colleagues. They will all be in for a surprise next week. At least I really hope they like what I have installed for them. I have to start bucking up too; the one book I have to read for the month is eighty pages away from ending and both songs have yet to copy into my memory. If you ever want a fun song to play, I’d recommend Yume Sekai and Summer Holiday. With just ten days left of March, I may have to chip in extra hours to just to say ‘Mission Accomplished!’

Q: You get along well with almost everyone okay, who are you trying to kid?

A little shout out to my doujin buddy, KrystleK. Her masterpiece, Wolf Brothers is going to be a full length animation movie. Since it’s a personal (yes, she made the film herself) and collaborated team effort, KrystleK deserves my praise and support on this venture. May the wolves keep howling! Awooo~~

For more information about her work, check out her deviantart profile at http://krystlekmy.deviantart.com/

I had a joy ride with ChaiS and PingF to VeenaN’s place. We celebrated her birthday by throwing her a surprise! After opening presents, we left for the campus. Unfortunately so, ChaiS had to hit the curb and ended up with a flatten tire. Ain’t gonna know if Zipcar would let him off easily. I guess I have to wait to find out. J

Q: If only there were no surprise quizzes in class.

It is safe to say that I’ve finally caught up with both Lihee and Ika on separate Skype sessions. This goes to show that no matter how busy you get, if you have the heart for others, you will make the time to meet. Well, Skype kinda form a magical space for such hangouts, in the convenience of both users no matter where they are in the world. And I appreciate such technology for helping me maintain my relationships with others, especially now that everyone is everywhere like how I am, remotely distant from all the action. A friend strung some words nicely to define friends who don’t keep in touch for more than a year; “let’s just say you’re not as important to them.” And boy, she may be on to something.

Let’s get a reality check for a bit. Seriously, how much more excuse can you come up with now that things are SO convenient. Was it difficult to send a text once in a month? Last I calculated, a text may cost you less than 15 seconds (depending on the length and thought into it), which only amounts to a sad three minutes per year. Heck, that’s how long you spend in the toilet when you’re bolting for classes like the White Rabbit. Apparently, an instant noodle cooks within three minutes too. That shows how little it cost you to do a monthly check-up on people you “claim” to care for.

I may have been guilty myself, or rather the example may have simply been too stringent. Fine, if once a month is too much, how about once every two months? That ought to shake your world by now if it hadn’t. See guys, if your friends start leaving you and you don’t know why, ask yourself if you’ve ever made the effort to keep them around, before you blame it on others. They sure are no dogs, if you know what I mean. And while some of you may began to wonder if I am referring this post to a certain someone, well, you might be right. Hey, you care enough about me to read this blog, then I’d say this rant goes out to you too, fair and square.

Lead or follow,
Vonnie S.

Q: It took me everything not to call you...

Of the several items in this picture, the ones bearing the red X's are those that I've personally purchased out of pocket. And the rest are samples I’ve gotten through mail. Ain’t that an impressive collection? My guest(s) need not ever bring necessities since I’ve got them available and best of all, for free. If you want me to prompt you about free giveaways, just drop me a private message. Sorry, for US residents only. I wish they’d mail overseas.

Kacau-bilau,
Vonnie S.

Q: Catch you on the flip side!

Yea! It’s on. I’ve got BrittneyB to go lunch with me on Wednesday. Gonna try some Cuban food, which is something new. Don’t know what to expect, but judging my palate, there is enough room for mistakes to happen before I can truly say something stinks. No, I am not making any suggestive predicament of what the outcome might be. For all you know, I might end up becoming an advocate for it. We’ll see, I’ll definitely update you guys on it.

Am taking a break after scrubbing the kitchen. The space is now looking sharper than before, though the sink is unfortunately a lost cause. Meh, I ain’t putting any powerful chemicals on it because I don’t want my entire room to smell of biohazards. In making peace with both health and the environment, I’ll live with a slightly tainted sink until the day I decided to move out of this place. Story of my life.

Drop it like it scratched you,
Vonnie S.

Q: So even the sky laughs at me, does it?

As my feet made its way into the open, it quickly burrowed itself deeper into the blanket. Way too early to rise was it verdict, for the air was still at a low temperature, evident of dark cloudless night. This might take a while, I thought. No measurement is more reliable than your own body to tell you what’s up with the environment. Hence, those are the very qualities that made us humans resilient you see, like cockroaches, you will probably never see the end of us. And I woke up at noon, just in time for lunch.

Unfortunately, I have to forget about going to DC. PingF is home-ridden with assignments and study time for midterm exams. In one aspect, I am appreciative that my lecturers took the liberty to give mine out last week. While that means having a trouble-free break, it sucks not having anything to do. I suppose I can always prepare for class, that too can wait till the weekends roll by. Tsk, I’ll begin this day by waging war with the bathroom and kitchen. Where are you ol loyal brush and cloth?

Side chara,
Vonnie S.

Q: What art thou plotting?

Ah, I sensed a bed of flowers seeing a clean bedroom. Don’t look at the container below the study table okay? There is nothing there but paper clutter and other unidentified junks. Tomorrow, I’ll attack the kitchen and bathroom. Gotta scrub all those winter germs away asap before my holiday ends and more rubbish piles spawn itself.

My brother sent me a Valentine’s Day card with some horse-related keychain in it. Can’t wait for the family to reunite again in May. But then, doesn’t that mean I have to start planning the trip with him soon? Sigh, I am going to need more Ice Breakers for all that stress. Gotta start working on those commission drawings too. What’s this about a Narwhal mural?

And now the plot dissolves...

2 qt,
Vonnie S.

Q: Different good or different bad?

My Spring Break is experiencing a readjustment due to a major setback in my plans. (Thou can refer to previous post regarding this matter.) The week will see loads of “spring” cleaning, eating out and possibly, journal readings. I have a birthday surprise scheduled on Tuesday afternoon for VeenaN. Somehow, PingF is on the same page as I am, as we are planning to go to DC for a one day trip now. But I’m still going to push my luck.

Finger crossed on good weather, we’ll be there on Thursday. In the end, I counted on PingF to accompany me. Deep down inside, I felt apologetic since I did honored HJ’s request more so than this girl’s. And while HJ hitched a ride with another person to DC, I was left questioning whether I am ever going anywhere with this girl ever. Once bitten, twice shy, they said.

No matter, it would still be fun to travel with different people I suppose. Plus, she might actually make a better travel partner since she’s not as tight on her budget. Look, I am not saying that people who are poor shouldn’t travel. Think objectively before you start firing me with insults. *ahem* Would you be happy if your travel mate refused to spend for his/her trip? I’m talking about having a meal at a decent place and this one friend of yours would order the cheapest thing on the menu (soup), then stared intently at you for a piece of your dish. Sigh, you get me. I suppose your travel partner can make or break the trip for you. So people, do play a game of compatibility before embarking on a long travel.

Gray looked as though he had some extra protein shake to keep his screen time. In other words, our protagonist buffed up a whole lot compared to his physique in the anime episodes. Ah Fairy Tail, it was still an all-round good movie. There was sufficient discord, action, and a simple plot to follow.

Tears,
Vonnie S.

Q: Forget it. I am sure he will not have much to say about that.

I am going to attempt a short time travelling, blog post style. Imagine the last post is today’s (Saturday) entry, and this is well, the day before which makes it Friday’s post. Sounds good so far? Glad you’re keeping up with this craziness. Thank you for your patience.

Anyway, I splurged a whole lot on groceries lately. Since it’s now a one month once deal, I have to make every trip count. So I take my time, going through aisle to aisle, in case I missed out on anything. I don’t have a habit of keeping a list. Presumably, I have a young brain and it is not like I was buying food for a large group of people anyway. In the end, I realized that I had indeed forgotten to get a bag of flour. Sigh.

Then, some of you were curious enough to wonder how on earth do I carry one month’s worth of groceries home? Suppose I may have had a ride, or perhaps even buy just two bags and eat plain PB & J every meal. Well, if you had a go at that and guessed either one of those, you’ve greatly underestimated my survival mode. When necessary and it kicks in, I can do wonderful things. Instead of being helpless (like a damsel in distress), I bought myself a cart. Yup! And the rest is history.

Talk investment,
Vonnie S.

Q: What do you think about me?

Phew! It’s finally Spring break. I could use it now that that one hectic week is behind me. Unfortunately, I was struck with a bad news on Friday. The one anticipated trip to Washington DC is facing setbacks. I want to blame this matter on HJ, considering she did the whole carpet-pulling trick. By that, I mean she told me at the last minute that her ex-roommate (who was supposedly willing to accommodate our stay) has yet to settle this agreement with her current roommate. So much for cherry blossom viewing, but I was told to wait it out till Sunday, “she might reply us then.” Then you’d say, why that’s not a problem. Just bloody book a hotel for a night or two right? Wrong. HJ is under “very tight budget.” I don’t know…this effing sucks.

Yikes, not too sure if I’m gungho enough to plan a one day trip down just to see those flowers. That would mean having to drag some people along for the ride. Have to start checking who’s free then.

Crooked back,
Vonnie S.

Q: A hunter is most vulnerable when he is about to capture his prey.

Hold up, I tell myself. You’ve experimented soy sauce chicken only to make a similar marinade to char siew? Now that’s crazy talk. I thought the same when I bit down on the caramelized piece of meat during lunch. What a surprise! I suppose something magical happened inside the fridge last night (besides the Daylight saving). I might seriously be addicted to this flavor, but I will have to get some people to try it out before I conclude anything. Wanna sign up to be a guinea pig?

Also, I’ll be keeping blog posts short at least until Thursday. Don’t blame my laziness. I am facing a mountain of assignments and I can only talk about surviving it once it decreases to nothing.

Tower of Babel,
Vonnie S.

Q: One who is picky with food is also picky with people.

God awful. The fourth wave’s bunch is a whole lot stronger than I expected. Strategy tells me to stick to one opponent, the weak link Genius Inventor. By slaying 45 of that, I should clear this phase again. But the internet speed is killing me, slowing down the pace towards my foreseen victory. I may have to continue this fight tomorrow. I have but 20 minutes left to this before I turn in the mouse for journals. I planned on writing the critique today. Even so, I have yet to pick an article to write up on. Argh, all this uncertainty sucks. Seriously, I am such a bad student.

Hungry nia,
Vonnie S.

Q: Is that your man?

Terrible weekend: One critique, one midterm exam, and two assignments all due next week. On top of that, there are four journals and one chapter reading extra on the side. And I ask myself right now what I am doing, what am I watching and why is a Gintama episode more important than completing these tasks? Well, I then convinced myself that an hour break for dinner is significant to study time. One cannot focus with an empty stomach. And since I stopped questioning myself, I procrastinated again. May I get through at least two journals by midnight?

Tsk...VivianI, you are dead wrong. ChaiS is definitely not my boyfriend. T-T

Fix the breaks,

Q: I hope we can make a long time swaps.

Snow day! Although there isn’t much to shout about, except for the strong winds and rain, I don’t see more than an inch of snow outside. Apparently, the Floridians at my workplace over exaggerated this snow storm. Perhaps it’s because they are from the south, a place where snow is only portrayed in storybooks and Christmas. Yesterday, they talked about how Hurricane Sandy was nothing, and yet they fear snow blizzards. I can relate to that somewhat, two years in Kalamazoo had taught me to take on a polar bear composure, playing it cool in cold temperatures. Right now, for the city to cry over this sleet of snow is a laughable matter in my opinion. Probably not for the rest of them who came from warmer spots. Actually, I am originally from a tropical country to begin with. I suppose both extremes shouldn’t bother me by now. But hell ya, I’ll take one day holidays anytime of the year regardless whether it’s hot or cold.

Yes then you’re no,
Vonnie S.

Q: You psychology ma..people always say you read minds!

Having a midnight chat with some friends. It’s funny how things are right now. These people are not individuals I talk to every single day. Well, save for PJ, we’ve been pretty much on Skype for hours on end since this semester started. I have reasons, and I suppose one can’t hold a fire against him too long. Besides, people do grow kinder after living alone for a while. I am probably an example of that phenomenon. Why, I would have been mighty displeased had I been myself a year back. Why should I give time to someone who doesn’t even care about me? Out of pity, or was it out of gratitude, I really can’t tell. But, I’m being the bigger person at this moment.

Story goes, this once close friend of mine (of course, the friendship isn’t as strong anymore due to history) decided to initiate a conversation with me. That doesn’t sound the least problematic right? Sure, but I sensed awkwardness as we haven’t been in touch for more than a year now. And, the reason she contacted me was simply to ask this one question: What do you think about me?

Are you kidding me? Is this some kind of joke? I wonder why she’s even studying Psychology right now. Before I let my anger get the hella ahead of me, I want to reassure you that I did not have (thoughts of strangling her) the heart to take it out on her. Oh, but it was on a psychology war using words alone. You can be your own judge as to whether what I said is right. I don’t ever have to convince you.

[To be honest, the reason why I said I am not qualified is because people can change over time. I have not been talking to you nor stay anywhere physically near enough to observe, yet alone judge. (…)
And in all seriousness, I really don’t think I can objectively judge someone. No one can do that without certain biasness. (…) Also, one last thing. Ask that question to people who really matters to you and who you spend most time with. Otherwise, it would be one heck of a pointless survey. Depending on your subject pool, results can be skewed. Psychology thought me that.]

Picture to burn,
Vonnie S.

Q: Don't think he have the balls...need you to pass message.

“Please have faith, Zinaida. No matter what you did, regardless of how I have been mistreated…I’ll forever love you…and adore you.”

Turgenev’s First Love is a strong recommendation of mine for several reasons. One; in reminisce of one’s first love, more so for those who had a bad experience with it. But in all honesty, we have such soft spots for our firsts. Deep down inside, you know that his/her presence meant a lot to have taught you such feelings to begin with. It could have been anyone, but that one person had to be your first. Ah, such sweet misery within one’s heart abates year by year, yet the memory continues to haunt relentlessly despite changing hands.

Two; this tale is a testament to what I mean by emotion being hardly a singular matter. First love, simply put is bitter sweet like a hot cup of tea during winter, so warm and comforting that it puts a smile on your face and that in itself is happiness. When you’re in a fit of anger, it is most likely due to disappointment, or grief. Hence, love can be a double edged sword. And depending on the wielder, the power of such weapon meets a choice to protect or to harm another. That is why more often than not, a parent canes a child out of love. This story would raise your hope and proceed to tear it, even so, you will still be given a choice to hate or move on.

(I could list more, and it would still do no justice to First Love. Just read the goddamn book already, you lazy bum.)

This tale written in 1860 reverberates to those who live in the present, despite nearly two centuries after, and will continue to hold true for those in the future. So as long as humans have rooms in their hearts for another, regardless of the number, love will persist through time.

Cotton candy,
Vonnie S.

Q: I know it isn't gonna be easy, but I know it's gonna be worthwhile.

Sometimes it pays to have an elder sibling, minus the fact that you might get bossed around. But if you’re lucky, he or she will relieve you of annoying problems and you need not even say thank you after all that. I have decided to get an NYC map for my lil brother as he would have to take my parents around in May while I struggle at finals. Not that he lacks the sense of direction, I know for the fact that he’s incapable of deciding things early. I am no different; however he’s twice the klutz I am. Hence, this effort I planned on getting him prepared to do this task; a map highlighted in purple and yellow of tourist attraction spots and restaurants. All that’s left for the kid is the hotel. There shouldn’t be any complaints now, right?

Coolness! I’ve been approved to give away books on the 23rd April.

Manis,
Vonnie S.

Q: Ini poser punye orang...

Back to childhood and loving it!
Check out these stickers I got for free. No, I didn’t harass some kids for them. I relieved a friend this burden and took it upon my own for future purposes. I’m sure a dull letter could use some color and since I’m on the postcard hobby now, it makes more sense to have these lying around to help fill up spaces within sentences. If you fancy any, just drop me a pm and I’ll gladly hook you up with a nice card. J

Large print,
Vonnie S.

Q: You mean the end of the world? o.o

Neopets started a new plot. I won’t lie; besides, Tyrannia is in need of a serious makeover anyway. What better way to do that than to have all Neopians participate in an all-out war among clansman. I have never heard of those groups prior to this installment (except for the Thieves). But since the strange obelisk appeared on the abandoned prehistoric plateau, everyone wants a piece of the cake. So we’re dragged into the mess, bribed by promises of a shiny trophy and bags of bonus items. Funny how I get caught along such novel events, and played for the heck of it. Already the second wave hits, and I’ve cleared the mission within minutes. My pets are pretty imba for these weaklings, especially since they auto heal after winning a match. I suppose each group is pretty much equally distributed with strong players, but since familiarity beckons the majority, I picked to join Kanrik the Thief. Sounds way cooler than the lot, or you may say I was simply jumping on the bandwagon. Tsk, better than The Sway. What the heck does such a name imply to begin with? I shall refrain myself from making any inappropriate jokes here. Just in case any of you Neopians out there start hazing.

Third wave mai!
Vonnie S.
