Birthdays are a call for celebration; PeiLi phrased it
nicely to mean “another year that one’s still alive.” At close to quarter of a
century, I can see how time can be a Speedy Gonzales and I am exceptionally
unfit to be running after it. This means I'll be aging like kimchi in a crack pot
at square one, hardly progressing much. Perhaps that’s a wrong symbol to use, I’m
telling you it’s kimchi when in fact it’s smelly tofu, both of which are delicious
delicacy of the East. Quite the irony, since people think I’m making humongous
progress in my academic career; why, she’s in a grad program! Hm…I don’t quite
befriend Sigmund Freud anymore that’s for sure, but I do get the eclectic
thinkers within range, one of which is the only other Malaysian at UMBC. Not
that it’s unpleasant, just challenging when it involves DMC (deep-meaningful
conversations). I don’t call for DMC too often now, but people seem to like
sharing their concerns with just about anybody. I suppose we don’t see each
other too often and also, people of other nationality here knows you have
practically NO one to let the cat out to (owh, the horror if that person loves
cats).
Well, it’s my birthday again. A good portion of gifts were
received back home. People wanted to save on postage and I agree with such wise
decision. Actually, it wouldn't matter anyway; it’s the thought that counts
right? This post is to wish myself a smooth semester and plenty of good night’s
sleep ahead. Also, I would like to give a shout out to those who sent me these
lovely presents and for the few who actually donated to my favorite non-profit organization
in my name. Not forgetting to my new UMBC pals for a wonderful dinner. As always, I am forever grateful for your love and sincerity.
Ni kan ma?
