Q: If he understands it, then totally no fun!!

DJ broke up with Lihee! That is the hardest news I’ve heard this month. What a way to kick start the new week! Some of our mutual friends are making irresponsible comments, saying that “they saw it coming.” Honestly, if your job ain’t a psychic, you should be banned from using those words, more so in front of the victims. Well, a failed relationship is a failed relationship. No one is to be blamed but love. It crumbled under the pressure of long distance and uncertain future; at least that is what I got out of it.

Poor girl is what I want to say. How I wish that technology would advance to the point where teleportation is possible. I would cuddle her to sleep, stroke her head to assure her that things would get better. But I was denied that wish, instead I settled for the next best thing--a Skype session. Watching her through the screen, I knew she wasn’t her usual cheery self. Puffy-eyed and dry mouth from the shock, she braved through the pain to tell me about it.

Sigh, sorry to break such news to you readers. We all know for sure that time is mean, but it is just what she needs for now.

Out of control,
Vonnie S.

Q: I don't know why he had to tell me now.

Some of my friends in Ponyville fashion. I’ve made up my mind. It’s all set. I am going to sell off the four Cards Against Humanity Holiday expansion pack I have. They are currently listed for more than fifty bucks each by other sellers on sites like Ebay and Amazon. But I’m starting small to attract buyers, just for the experience.

Update: Three bids already on the first day itself! Ngek ngek, half way there.

A handful,

Q: No need Birthday la, I can do it every weekend.

So I heard that Sparta is in Malaysia right now promoting his new album? What is with all these events taking place while I’m away? Meh, it’s fated that I don’t get to see them in flesh…for now.

Last night I had the strangest dream, one that persisted even as I broke away from it at three in the morning. If people say that dreams do come true, I sure hope this doesn’t. How should I put this…I was sitting on this bed in this unfamiliar room. The sheets definitely felt soft to the touch, almost fleece-like. If memory serves me well, the curtains were semi-transparent with lacing in white. Floor was most likely wood varnished to perfection, must have cost a fortune for the area. And somehow, I was red in the face. My heart was racing for sure, as I stared wide eyed at the mirror.

Another entity was sharing the space. I felt that it was staring at me from a corner. By the time I gathered enough courage to look at it, there it went, squeaking away. A rat. I woke up sweating bullets. Ah, the window panes were clanking away because of the wind.

Back to bed. I somehow ended up in the same room, this time in a sleeping gown. This time, a wing chair replaced the rat at the corner, with clothes on it. Again, there was another entity within the space. There was definitely someone on the bed to my right…

Don’t know,

Q: What is the anime that goes like this ar?

What Goes Around Comes Around

Need to get round to filtering those photos. Overdue liao! There’s also Makoto Shinkai’s new anime film! Woah, need to update the blog too. With no visitors to hold me back, I shall start working on these things one at a time. I am also officially a rank eight player in the Altador Cup! Woohoo!

Are you sure about this?

Match over,
Vonnie S.

Day 03: Annyeong, chingu yah.

The last day of SoraK’s visit. Breakfast was a Korean affair, cold bibimen. She made it while I was asleep, and despite its instant nature (took only three minutes to make), I was touched. You know she’s Asian; they do their best to repay your kindness. Well, generally speaking. Anyway, we went down to the Inner Harbor for lunch at Five Guys. When you want to get down and dirty, the best diet destroyer has definitely got to be a double patty bacon cheeseburger at Five Guys. You may want to add some Cajun fries on the side. That ought to make overkill on your calorie intake. Forget that, we were to have fun yo!

I left Sora at the bus stop after spending half day at the harbor. We had our fill of candies and ice cream. None of which beats Pitango, note to self. I was left all worn out when I got home. As such, I made it a mission to finish Oda Nobuna no Yabou. Great great anime, by the way. I sure love Summer!

Sleeping gas,

Day 02: Friend, o di ka say yoh?

It was predicted to rain between noon till 2pm. I didn’t want to experience what happened yesterday. Trusted my gut and took a nap as soon as we got home from the farmer’s market. Of course I ended up being stood up. The rain went elsewhere and by default, we started our journey towards Hampden.  Thirty minutes of slow strolling and we were embraced by a lively fair, aptly named the HONfest. A stranger told me that HON stands for “Honey” in short. Looking at the women with hairstyles shaped like beehives, I’d say I was amidst walking, talking cotton candies. And that sort of mirage/fantasy/sights put a smile on my face.

Music from live bands at both corners of the street.
Natty Boh the mascot for the National Bohemian beer.
The absolute main attraction.
Hampden is such a quirky place I don’t know where to start. You’ve got shops that sell vintage items, international goods, and other wares that classifies as “interesting”. It is charming in a way, the kind of place you would go back to experience “eclectic”. More importantly, the festival was worth the exercise. I got myself a bottomless stainless steel mug with all the soda I can drink for the day. That alone cost me fifteen bucks, but I was left a lovely souvenir and full bladder to remember HONfest by. I gave away two bucks for some Malaysian curry puff, made by Thai vendors. It made my day!

A shop decoration in pink.
A paperweight that oogles a thousand eyes.
The day ended with delicious Vietnamese spring rolls for dinner. SoraK seemed pleased overall, despite the mix of fish sauce and lime was something she had never tried before. I can tell, watching her going through seven rolls on her own, which is itself an implied compliment. Nothing makes a chef happier, that she enjoyed her meal and left the plates clean.

Found ya,
Vonnie S.

Day 02: Oi ahjumma!

What a lovely morning. The rain seemed to have dried out its tears and left. I guess we had no reason not to go for a morning walk to the Waverly Farmer’s Market on 32nd street. I had a plan to make Vietnamese spring rolls for dinner, which meant having to purchase some fresh lettuce and mint. Turns out the market have lots to offer, from flowers, breakfast, to fruits. I would simply call this the American pasar pagi
Meats for sale; note that they sell rabbit too.
I had my taste of bison again after a while. What made it funny was that the lady selling them wore a similar outfit as I did. We waved towards one another, sharing a mutual moment, acknowleging our choice in wardrobe. So what if we’re of a different race?

Sweet peas make really good snacks. Gonna return for these!
Fresh vegetables at decent prices.
Some flowers for your love ones?
What about some goat cheese pastries?
We had some Blacksauce Kitchen biscuits, washed down with ginger juice for breakfast. After walking around, I made it out with my purchases. All that at the cost of ten bucks (including breakfast), and we’re back to my apartment for naptime.

Very traditional,
Vonnie S.
