Q: I dun think this album would be a hit XD

From Facebook, you shall witness a number of fanatical albums that do not exist in music shops, nor can you find them in bargain shelves. Only for a while, it makes us laugh as we try to make a shot at fame as a band.

Q: Its a waste of spicyness, flavor without spice, no kick.

Someday when I am super free, I should make this nasty stuff. I bet my roommate would want it bad. (She loves alcohol, what to do.) But Grasshopper is a rather simple after dinner drink, I can still remember it way back when ktsiong likes taking people to fashionable bars. So as long as the volume is small, it is rather enjoyable for those who likes mint flavor. Take it like dessert.

Stir in Starbucks coffee and you'd get Brown Grasshopper and it should probably taste as good too. Okay then, pousse-cafe style it is!

We've got the shaker but no ingredients! Dang it!

No ice,

Q: I was just checking her out and she slapped me!

Twain once described Huckleberry Finn as a book in which “a sound heart & a deformed conscience come into collision & conscience suffers a defeat,” and the novel traces Huck's moral development as he encounters a seemingly haphazard array of people and situations.

Sounds like a really dense literature material and it is, considering The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is first on my reading list this semester. I’ve gone through half the book with multiple complications. After reading through the two hundred pages or so, I said to myself, “Hey, I’ve bloody read this some time ago back in the school library. What the heck?!” True. I’ve done the reading before, but here was where it got a little tricky. Apparently, I bear no remembrance of what the story was intending to tell. I just don’t remember. All I could recall was that the story is about a loony baloney adventure ride down the Mississippi river and a kid (well, Huck) is the protagonist.

After so many years and having that trained mind to pick out specific informations from the texts, I realized there are more to that than just the adventure of Huckleberry Finn. I scrolled through websites in order to understand it more. Behold, in my hands is the greatest American literature ever written and it is still widely debated as controversial in nature by literature scholars. Just within those pages I unraveled immense criticism on religion, race, southern societies, morality, and many more of such incredible ironic gems that simply begs to be dug out. As a child, all I cared was the story. Now as an adult, I learn to care for what’s really in there.

When it came to Huck, (I once thought he’s a bad apple) he addresses the story through a child’s mind. Innocent yet truthful, he has “a sound heart” but the corrupted society around him formed “a deformed conscience” that he had to inevitably live by. When they collided, Huck chose to do what’s right, and that is where the “conscience suffers a defeat.” Somehow, it is pretty relatable to today’s society. Interesting no? I’m sure we’ve known friends in our lives who are genuinely good (or unique) and yet, because of the society they are living in; they had to conform to society’s ideals. Some successfully hold their own principles, while others fall through and lose themselves.

Could it be that the idea of morality is torn between; whose influences you bear and not what really matters to you personally? Somehow Huck tells me that I ought to do what I deem right and not what society deems that is right for me.

Alas, it all comes down to: Just be true to yourself and to be you.

Q: O crap, I think I just sprained my back...

First week of Spring semester and today has only been the second day. If that did not sound dreary enough, snow was getting into my eyes while I was waddling my way to Bernhard Center to pick up some books. I swiped my card twice to cough out $130+ from my pitiful bank account. Just when I thought classes would go environ-friendly, pft, some sustainability plan that is. Settled many things ahead of time and will soon have to write a check for the school tuition fees. I hate this time of the semester.

On the bright side, I found familiar faces in all of my classes. Whee~ If that is not pleasant enough, discovering that you’re now a TA of a class in which your CA is enrolled in, is a spectacular delight, for the better or worse. Which just means I have to buck up on my studies, like it or not. While it isn’t always that welcoming, reading assignments proved to be a lot more demanding this time. I’ve got a total of twelve books to complete this semester and these don’t even add up to the text books I have to study. A seriously FonML situation, although I would prefer the F word to be replaced with the more innocent Foray. Sounds like I’m ranting, but I am seriously not.

I am merely showing you what diligent students (such as myself) do in a place like Kalamazoo where entertainment is all the way down there and New York’s is like all the way up there. When it’s such a ghost town, how can she be soooo busy? Well, my beloved nosy relatives, this is what we call trying to pok meng, and I like the pace. Since it doesn’t require me to physically jog the walk, why not?

My GSIs don’t sound happy at all; in fact they were rather crappy. They make these smiles at you but deep inside you know that they just want the holidays to come so they may split elsewhere, but in reality, they can’t. Poor souls, I feel them in many ways. Wonderful cousin of mine still believes I am going to be rich when I unearth a dinosaur bone, specifically the T-Rex. Want me to tell her that I am not an archeologist and I am in fact, actually going to use words to persuade people out of their problems as a way of living in the future? No. Not a chance. Why? Cos dinosaurs are wayyy cooler! Of course it is. But she’s gonna grow up someday wishing I hadn’t wasted my time digging in Egypt when I can be reconnecting with people around me.

Splendid! Now that I am feeling much better, I shall head to the management office for rent rebates and probably a lollipop too.

Praying for Sunshine,

Q: As the rumor has stated, I am in fact __________!

GG-ness, I woke up thinking I've won a million dollars at a local lottery bonanza cash giveaway thingy. Now, I can't sleep thinking that all I have is a ten dollar bill hidden beneath my debit card on the study table. FML

Q: Chase the white rabbit down the hole.

E: Happy New Year 2011!

With all that commotion, we headed down to Downtown Kalamazoo in hope to see some giganto fireworks lighting up the night skies. Just a peek and we would have gone home to play some Cluedo, extracting rumors after rumors till finally, we catch our villian. A slow pacing whole minute display of fairy lights, and then no more, as KrugerL put it, "You should one day drive to Las Vegas. It's WAY better over there." But to me, the best (and most meaningful) fireworks has already been witness. *winks* You know who you are and what you've done during 2008's New Year.

As expected, I received a couple of texts and phone calls to wish me a better new year. How do these people know that 2010 has been terrible or what not, one can only guess. I believe it is all in the mechanics of mere words. Oh well, better to have some than none. Called MelC, PL, DaiYi and Pika to wish them. I love these people's reaction when you call them out of the blues and yell over the phone. Either they will choose to yell back, pause a lil, or merely come up with their own funny counterattack, leaving you speechless beyond anything else imagined before.

I've not been sleeping well lately. Don't know why, but it is either because I have not been keeping track of my sleeping hours, or perhaps it is because my roommate would be up till 4am singing her lungs out. Every night brings a new dream too. Weird, cos I'd end up being so tired the next morning, I would wake at 2pm with slight headaches. There were interesting ones; no nightmares, just plain random dreams involving random people. One included RyanA getting a bag of pisang goreng (yes, random) and sharing it with us in his room. The pisang goreng was airmailed by his sister! Next dream was a dramatic spat action between SiaoHui and ShetaT over what I should be eating for lunch. Another had the gang eating at some mamak place and we see MelC ordering three layered tea (with American accent) and we arteri-kao her; more such messy ones that I couldn't remember. However, SaiYi is almost always in it, strange as it seems. Might be, maybe, I miss her a lot.

So I would enlighten SiaoHui and ShetaT about my recent discoveries. Theories of dream meanings sprouted like springtime mushrooms;

a) If you can remember a dream, it would most likely not happen.
(Okay...I really liked some of them tho...)
b) If you can't remember a dream, it would most likely happen.
(So, if it's a nightmare, force yourself to recall it.)
c) If you can't remember, but choose to tell, it would most likely not happen.
(Tsk. You think they would make things easy for you.)
d) If you dream about that person, most likely that person is missing you.
(Hahaa^^ More like a reminder to give that person a call. But I like this reasoning better.)
e) Anything that involves going through a tunnel, bananas, and caves signifies sexual encounters.
(GG...)

Well, that's pretty much my new year's day. Gonna go feed three hungry kitties. Can picture them pawing for food. Will upload some pics of them soon. :)

Adios amigos!
