Had a movie session with Ika and this time, we picked Subang
Parade simply because War Horse wasn’t showing at Pyramid. Also, I believe the
location is closer to Ika’s abode and Japanese class, so she need not rush her
way over. Alas, she still did because of the traffic, and it didn’t help that
the movie began shortly after her arrival at the mall. Time wasn’t waiting
indeed. I fail to notify her that a husband-wife duo stole our seat too, but I
ain’t picky and it would be absolutely rude to the other patrons should I choose
to stir a scene. The cinema was relatively empty, so it didn’t matter anyway.
The movie is probably not my most favorite of Spielberg’s works,
but it is still brilliant (tho still can’t top Jurassic Park in my opinion). Characters
after characters were introduced, and yet it doesn’t confuse nor bore
audiences. Perhaps it is because I have some knowledge about WWI, certain scenes
just jump out to jerk your tears out. Ika was certainly having a ball,
eliciting squeals at the sight of soldiers killing other soldiers and that
frequently made me smile at her disgust over gory scenes. One truth fur sure, I’d
hate to be there at that point in time to see a war in real time action. Of
course, if watching on a big screen is bad enough, what about experiencing it
first hand? Blimey, I don’t ever like that idea at all. I digress. The movie is
a 4/5 for me. Those Thoroughbreds are so dang pretty! Horses + Steven Spielberg = Awsm!
Nando’s for dinner and we chatted till the cows came home
from grazing and the rain left the roads damped. But we had fun, and the mall
certainly changed quite a bit since the last time I visited it (like a good 5-6
years back). Either way, the day got better because I wasn't lost on my way home.
