Q: You must feel odd for being singled out in class, huh?

Dang, Men in the Sun is friggin touching for a short story collection. Subtle, yet strong. When I got done with the book, I researched a little about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and how should I put it into words, speechless. Every nation in every conflict likes to think it is just, that it is the victim, and that all the blame - and all the effort - lies on the other side. Pride is as much a hindrance to the peace process as hatred or ignorance. I'm not pro of either side, but pro of them both. They want what we all want: a place to call home, to live in peace and have a family. People always notice that they share a deep-seated mistrust and hatred for each other. But in reality, most of them share this same human desire to be left alone to live in peace. It's high time this conflict get a balanced, pragmatic view.

In fact I've been to Egypt, Qatar and Turkey in the last couple of years and I fell in love with these countries. Not just because of their untouch historical artefacts and beautiful landscape, but because of the warm people (unfortunately ridden by the waste of poverty). The way religion are politicized these days really do not do much justice to what they in fact are.

My religion? Makan, Main, Tidur.

For the greater good of peace,

  1. It's all perspective. Consider the "good vs evil" concept. Everybody perceives what is good and what is evil differently. For example, early American pioneers see themselves as good and the savage native Americans as evil. Same thing applies on the current "War Against Terrorism". Who we deemed as terrorists see themselves as heroes ridding the Western evil. Ironically, all the people want to be left in peace like you said. Politics are not bad, but it's how people manipulates through political means that makes it not so well.
I am a devoted Makan, Main, Tidur. xD

  2. I didn't say politics are bad. A little competition and leadership is what every nation needs. Just that today's politics in certain nations (especially our beloved government's) are messing and dragging religion to the wrong direction. So honestly speaking, it's even harder to justify the actions some believers.

Thus, I choose to believe in Makan, Main, Tidur too. XD
