Well, the thing is, it’s Halloween in the US today. People come out walking on the streets decked in various kinds of strange characters or objects. Yes, I saw a banana and a chef standing by the traffic light. The sight is fascinating and it’s only been the second time I’ve experienced this youthful parade. A grim reaper, an Avatar couple, two policemen, some cowboys, and maybe…wait, is that a werewolf?! No good. I’m getting dizzy from the flashing red blue of a neighboring cop car. Damn, someone’s getting busted tonight. Then again, this is the every weekend scene of the Fraternity Village near where we’re staying. Students are often caught partying with their pants down!
I have been twitching a lot today. My legs wouldn’t stop shaking and I spaced out too much that it irritated some roommate of mine. What concerned me is not so much on missing the spooky seasonal celebration (by not dressing up); but rather the nervousness was for those in Malaysia. While I party Halloween-style at the Berryhill-Hampton-Robert’s residence at the Seville, my kawaii kohai-chans are facing a gruesome battle.
As you may have known, AniManGaki is an event I founded along with the club that organizes it. Today marks the test of their efforts; and I prayed for them (normally I don’t, because I don’t pray), wishing smooth sailing of the event and that they have the time of their lives. I want them to know that with hard work beckons great success. Even the shittiest of situation can turn for the better if proper attention is given and things are taken seriously.
At 1pm, the crowd spanned to 1000 units. I grew ecstatic at their achievement! The event resembled a seed that this skybird dropped in the middle of a forest and despite the natural forces trying to stop its advances, AniManGaki stood fast against the wind. Soon, it is going to dominate the industry. Tough call, but it’s a pleasant thing to know that my kohai-chan’s are there making it happen.
To my fellow comrades, ganbatte yo! The Shodaime will want to hear plenty of good news in the morning. The goal is not to be the best, but to overcome expectations. In my option, the expectation has already shattered as I type these words down with gusto. You people has proven your determination (especially Miss Jane and Hibiki, of course) and I’m sure you all deserved the credit.
So much for getting worked up, Hibiki kept his side of the deal; after all he “didn’t let the team down and pulled through to the end.” Thank you, bro.
*updated* AniManGaki 2010 reached its ultimate high of 1600 visitors!!
Wishing I could be there once again,
Vonnie S.
Omedto omedeto! Ya it is super uber fun sia! The haunted house fail to scare me though. Maybe they can do at Sunway Pyramid next time?
ReplyDelete*sigh* Those people outdid things but I was glad everything turned out splendid la.
ReplyDeletei was really glad this year i was not working and did managed to stay at Animangaki the whole day until Hibiki was giving his closing speech. it wasa great event that happened indeed.
ReplyDeleteif you know me, im always late to an event (as in missed the opening), and i thought i was gonna be doomed for Animangaki.. but time decided for me, and i was there even before noon (albeit not opening).
i spent most of the day on a 'field-trip' with my K-ON members (i cosplayed as Sawako-sensei) and we did so many things there - it was endless! we went into the Haunted House, nomnom from the food booths, window shopping at the doujin booth, watching stage performance, joined Hibiki's studio for a mini photoshoot, picnic chitchat in the girls changing room...
oh how i wish to be back there again. good job~
